EPS 80th Anniversary Symposium – Call for Proposals

To mark the 80th anniversary of the Experimental Psychology Society, we invite proposals for a special anniversary symposium that reflects on the current state of experimental psychology and its future trajectory.

The proposed symposium would be held at the EPS Essex meeting on Wednesday 1st July 2026.

We are particularly interested in contributions that address:

  • where experimental psychology stands now;
  • major challenges, blind spots, or unresolved questions;
  • how experimental psychology might develop over the next two decades, towards the Society’s centenary.

We welcome proposals across all areas of experimental psychology, including interdisciplinary work. Contributions should be evidence-led rather than purely speculative. Proposals that include speakers from across different institutions as well as early-career researchers, or that pair different career stages or perspectives, are especially encouraged. As well as retrospective celebration, this symposium is intended to focus on experimental psychology in the future.

If you are interested in organising this symposium, or would be interested in contributing to a symposium as an individual speaker, please contact the EPS Administrator, at expsychsoc@kent.ac.uk, to receive more information.

Submission of proposals will be due by midday on Thursday March 26th.
