Speed mentoring at CSBBCS/EPS 2018
WiCSC invites you to participate in a new WiCSC initiative we are piloting this year—a “speed mentoring” program, to take place at the meeting. In brief, the program will link graduate students and junior faculty with senior faculty to meet briefly (for 20 minutes) for a speed mentoring session during the WiCSC reception in the late afternoon of July 4, 2018.
This pilot program is based on a successful program that has been run for many years by the American Psychosomatic Society and has been adopted successfully by the US-based WICS group. There are a few ground rules for this program: 1) this is a one-time session (i.e., the mentor is not signing on for a longer-term mentoring relationship); 2) the mentee should come with a specific question or two to guide the session and make the most of it; 3) the mentee should send the mentor a CV and the question(s) ahead of time, but not expect that the mentor will have read this information prior to the meeting.
If you are interested in being a mentor, please complete the Google document at the link below before Monday June 4, 2018. Mentors need not be female.
If you are interested in being mentored, please complete the Google document at the link given below before Monday June 4, 2018. At this time, mentoring is open to CSBBCS or EPS members who are in the 3rd or later year in graduate school, Post-Doctoral researchers, and junior faculty. Mentees need not be female.
Once mentors are secured, mentors and mentees will be matched based on general interest area.
Open Science Pre-conference Workshop
Space is still available in the Open Science Pre-conference Workshop that will take place July 4th, 10 AM – 2:30 PM. You can sign up for the workshop during registration for the conference at a fee of $20 for Associate Members and $40 for Full Members.
